Bid Results <br /> The project scope and specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division and <br /> approved by the Illinois Department of Transportation(IDOT) for the use of Motor Fuel Tax <br /> funds. The project was advertised on August 3, 2011, and bids were opened on August 17, <br /> 2011. The results of the letting are as follows (bid tabulation attached): <br /> Base Bid+ Base Bid+ Compared to <br /> Alt.A Alt.B Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder (Asphalt) (Concrete) Over(-Under) <br /> Otto Baum Company,Inc. $312,577.25 (-10.19%) <br /> Kinney Contractors,Inc. $313,384.90 (-9.960/.) <br /> Feutz Contractors,Inc. $327,855.85 (-5.80%) <br /> Mid-States General&Mechanical Contracting Corp. $340,334.50 (-2.21%) <br /> Dunn Company $373,299.00 (-8.48%) <br /> G.M. Sipes Construction,Inc. $394,986.60 13.49% <br /> Sangamo Construction Company $449,482.09 29.15% <br /> Engineer's Estimate $407,900.85 $348,040.05 <br /> Otto Baum Company, Inc. provided the low bid and has successfully completed many jobs of <br /> this type for the City. Following the approval of the Mayor and City Council, the bid <br /> tabulation will be forwarded to the Illinois Department of Transportation for final approval in <br /> accordance with the rules governing the disbursement of Motor Fuel Tax funds. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution and bid <br /> award. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director and Matt Newell, City <br /> Engineer. Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any <br /> questions of the Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact <br /> Funding for this project is allocated in the Motor Fuel Tax Fund. The recommended low bid <br /> amount is $312,577.25. It is proposed that a total project expenditure of$340,000 be <br /> authorized to allow $27,422 for project contingencies. The City's current Motor fuel Tax <br /> allocation for this project is set at $350,000. <br /> The project should be completed by November 18, 2011. <br /> Staff Impact <br /> Staff time has been allocated for this project in the Capital Improvement Plan. <br /> Page 12 <br />
