King Jr. Drive Concrete Bridge Approach Grand Avenue East of M. L. King Jr. Drive Clinton Street Millikin Place Cul-De-Sac End of Public R.O.W. The project scope and specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division and approved by the Illinois Department of Transportation(IDOT) for the use of Motor Fuel Tax funds. The project was advertised on June 16, 2011, and bids were opened on June 27, 2011. The results of the letting are as follows (bid tabulation attached): Bidder Bid Price Compared to Engineer's Est. Over(-Under) Dunn Company $1,677,165.49 (-2.35%) Illinois Valley Paving $2,073,017.82 20.69% Engineer's Estimate $1,717,584.47 ----- Dunn Company provided the low bid and has successfully completed many jobs of this type for the City. Following the approval of the Mayor and City Council, the bid tabulation will be forwarded to the Illinois Department of Transportation for final approval in accordance with the rules governing the disbursement of Motor Fuel Tax funds. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution and bid award. INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director and Matt Newell, City Engineer. Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council on this item. BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Budget Impact Funding for this project is allocated in the Motor Fuel Tax Fund. The recommended low bid amount is $1,677,165.49. It is proposed that a total project expenditure of$1,710,000 be authorized to allow $32,834 for project contingencies. The City's current Motor fuel Tax allocation for this project is set at $1,718,000. Page 2
