Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Purchase of Street Lights for the City's Downtown Streetscape and Open <br /> Space Enhancement Program <br /> City Project 2010-14 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Council approve the purchase of pedestrian street light poles and <br /> luminaires to be installed as part of the Water Street Streetscape project. The Resolution <br /> authorizes the expenditure of$106,786.75 to purchase 40 pedestrian street light poles and <br /> luminaires. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> • May 19, 2008—Council approved Resolution R2008-67 approving a 10 year pricing <br /> agreement with Sternberg Lighting of Roselle, Illinois, for the purchase of 13' tall, square <br /> tapered pole, pedestrian light poles and luminaires. <br /> • October 21, 2010—Council approved Resolution R2010-202 authorizing and approving <br /> the Jurisdictional Transfer of North and South Route 51 (Franklin Street and Main Street) <br /> between Eldorado Street and Cleveland Avenue. The City is to receive$2,245,000 upon <br /> approval of the transfer by the State. The State requires that the funds be expended in <br /> accordance with Motor Fuel Tax requirements. <br /> • November 15, 2010—Council approved Resolution R2010-79 which provided for the <br /> issuance of Four Series General Obligation Bonds of the City of Decatur and provided for <br /> the Levy and Collection of a Direct Annual Tax for the payment of the Principal and <br /> Interest on the Bonds. Funding for downtown capital improvements were identified for <br /> $8.76 million of the authorized bond. <br /> • December 6, 2010— Council approved Resolution R2010-223 authorizing a$168,000 <br /> Professional Services Agreement between the City of Decatur and Massie Massie and <br /> Associates to provide program administration assistance for the design of downtown <br /> streetscape and open space improvements. The proposed work includes sidewalks, parks, <br /> open spaces and parking in the downtown area. <br /> Page I 1 <br />
