Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Appropriating Motor Fuel Tax Funds for <br /> Street Improvements <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached resolutions appropriating Motor <br /> Fuel Tax(MFT) funds for proposed 2011 street improvement projects and that the Mayor be <br /> authorized to sign said resolutions, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> 1. The appropriation of$1,718,000 for asphalt street improvements. <br /> 2. The appropriation of$350,000 for concrete street reconstruction. <br /> 3. The appropriation of$1,730,000 for the improvement of South Main Street and South <br /> Franklin Street between Wood Street and Cleveland Avenue. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> Each year the City Council appropriates MFT funds for street improvement work. MFT funds are <br /> allocated for street improvement work as part of the Fiscal Year 2012 Capital Improvement Plan. <br /> October 21, 2010—Council approved Resolution R2010-202 authorizing and approving the <br /> Jurisdictional Transfer of North and South Route 51 (Franklin Street and Main Street)between <br /> Eldorado Street and Cleveland Avenue. The City is to receive $2,245,000 upon approval of the <br /> transfer by the State. The State requires that the funds be expended in accordance with Motor <br /> Fuel Tax requirements. <br /> December 6, 2010—Council approved Resolution R2010-230 authorizing a design services <br /> agreement between the City of Decatur and Homer L. Chastain&Associates to design <br /> improvements to South Main Street and South Franklin Street between Wood Street and <br /> Cleveland Avenue for a fee not to exceed $101,774. <br /> December 6, 2010—Council approved Resolution 82010-231 appropriating $101,774 in Motor <br /> Fuel Tax(MFT) funds to pay for the design services agreement with Homer L.
