Marley, P.E., Public Works Director 61��7E� J SUBJECT: CDBG-R Sidewalk Replacement Project, City Project 2010-22 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution which authorizes awarding the contract for the CDBG-R Sidewalk Replacement Project, City Project 2010-22, to Christy-Foltz, Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$286,130, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. The resolution also authorizes the City Council to approve Change Order#1 which adds $119,038 to the contract for a total of$405,168. PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: The last sidewalk improvement project funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds was in December, 2004. No previous Council actions have been taken on this item. BACKGROUND: The proposed project is being funded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)using up to $405,168 in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 1 c d ed sections of sidewalk in the (ARRA) funding. The purpose of this project is to rep a e amag area identified in Figure 1 which is a CDBG eligible area of the City. The work is structured to promote the employment of low income workers. The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project was advertised May 12, and May 19, 2010, and bids were opened on June 24, 2010. The results for the letting are as follows: Compared to Engineer's Est.
