R2010-142 ACCEPTING THE BID AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT

Christy-Foltz, Inc. provided the low bid for the proposed work. They are a local firm that has successfully completed several projects for the Ciry. City staff recommends that the City Council award a contract with Christy-Foltz, Inc. to perform the CDBG-R Sidewalk Replacement Project. Change Order#1 authorizes the expenditure of an additional $119,038 on the project in order to use the full $405,168 in CDBG funds allocated for the sidewalk improvement project. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution and bid award. BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Budget Impact Funding for this project is allocated in the Community Development Block Grant Fund which is administered by the Development Services Department. The recommended low bid amount is $286,130 with a change order amount of$119,03 8, for a total not to exceed cost of$405,168. The project is scheduled to begin in July and should be completed by October, 2010. Staff Impact Staff time has been allocated to manage this project.
