Utilizing community policing strategies commits the Macon County Sheriff's <br /> Department to ensuring the safety of the citizens of Macon County. The Macon County Jail is <br /> overcrowded with 309 inmates housed in a structure designed to accommodate 265 inmates. In <br /> order to address these problem correctional officers will be working over hire hours to transport <br /> inmates to State Of Illinois correctional facilities. In high profile criminal and civil cases there is <br /> a need for increased security. The Macon County Sheriffls Department will utilize over hire <br /> hours by court security officers to ensure the safety of the judicial process. Often increased law <br /> enforcement presence is needed at special events, i.e. Farm Progress Show, numerous small <br /> community festivals. Deputy Sheriff over hires will be utilized to increase security at these <br /> scheduled and sometimes unscheduled events. Deputy Sheriff over hire hours will also be <br /> utilized in major criminal cases. <br /> In order to make this an effective program the Macon County Sheriff's Department will purchase <br /> fuel to be utilized in squad cars and the transport van. <br /> IV. GOALS, OBJECTIVES, and PERFORMANCE INDICATORS <br /> Pro�ram Goal l: The goal of the hireback program is to increase the work hours for Macon <br /> County Sheriff's Department personnel. <br /> Obiective 1: Deputy Sheriffs will work over hire hours at special events and major criminal <br /> cases. <br /> Obiective 2: Correctional Officers will be working over hire hours in transporting prisoners <br /> arrested on warrants in other jurisdictions and transporting inmates to State of Illinois <br /> Correctional Facilities. <br /> Obiective 3: Court Security Officers will work over hire hours to ensure safety of the judicial <br /> process. <br /> Program Goa12: Purchase the necessary fuel to implement this program. <br /> Obiective 1: Utilizing the fuel in Macon County Sheriffls Department vehicles. <br /> V. PROGRAM STRATEGY <br /> The Sheriff and his command officers will determine the allocation of over hire hours by <br /> the appropriate Sheriff's Department personnel. The Sheriff shall arrange for the purchase of the <br /> necessary fuel to achieve the programs goals. <br />
