Compared to Engineers Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over (�Under) <br /> Burdick Plumbing and Heating $423,598.00 3.5% <br /> Davis-Houk Mechanical, Inc $514,743.12 25.8% <br /> Hoerr Construction Inc $605,264.00 47.9% <br /> Engineer Estimate $409,291.00 --------- <br /> Burdick Plumbing and Heating was the low bidder at a total cost of$423,598. Burdick is a <br /> local plumbing and mechanical contractor and has completed many successful pump station <br /> and force main projects for the City and The Sanitary District. <br /> The bid is 3.5% over the engineer's estimate. Staff recommends that the City Council approve an <br /> additional $28,598 needed to accept the bid and fund the project and $21,402 to cover unforeseen <br /> contingencies for a total of$50,000. With the funding approval of the City Council, City staff will <br /> concur with the Sanitary District's recommendation to award the project to Burdick Plumbing and <br /> Heating. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this project. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Sanitary District of Decatur and Bainbridge, Gee, Milanski <br /> and Associates, Inc. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Director of Public Works and Matt Newell, City <br /> Engineer. Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any <br /> questions of the Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact: <br /> Funding for this project is $537,000 and is allocated in the Sewer Fund. <br /> Staffing Impact: <br /> Staff time has been allocated for this project. An agreement is in place with the Sanitary District of <br /> Decatur for project management and construction services to be provided by BGM. The project is <br /> scheduled to begin in May and be completed by September 2010. <br /> Page � 3 <br />
