This year, the Decatur Police Department recommends purchasing the video surveillance from a local
business, Bodine Communications. The cost will be approximately $3,000.00 less per system. The camera
systems will remain highly overt, digital camera systems with full color, remotely controlled with optical and
digital zoom capabilities. The actual cameras will be upgraded to the Sony SNGRX570NB w/35X zoom. Bodine
Communications has worked closely with the Decatur Police Department aud MIS to quickly perform a switch
to the new operating system. The OnSSI system is state of the art and is already in use by private business in the
community.
It should be noted that Heart Technologies also bid on this project. They also highly recommended the
OnSSI system; however, they were unable to meet the maintenance portion of the proposal. Heart Technologies
does not have access to a bucket truck for installation and maintenance.
The grants also provide reimbursement funds for COMCAST bills.
This technology will provide an increased measure of public safety for our citizens living in our inner
city neighborhoods.
ATTACHMENT: Quote #1 from Bodine Communications on three surveillance systems, three disconnects
and installation - $29,304.00
Quote #2 from Bodine Communications for four ROV disconnects, software upgrades,
and conversions for the four existing Surveillance Systems and the maintenance
agreement for all seven systems.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None aoticipated
STAFF REFERENCE: James A.
