Crowe,Assistant City Manag��� <br /> SUBJECT: Holding the Public Hearing and Receiving Certificate of Publication for the Proposed <br /> Pines Shopping Center Redevelopment Project Area <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approving the resolution receiving the <br /> certificate of publication showing notice of a public hearing for the Pines Shopping Center <br /> Redevelopment Project Area for 5:30 p.m. on February 1, 2010 at the City Council Chambers at the <br /> Decatur Civic Center. <br /> BACKGROUND: Pines Shopping Center Redevelopment Project is to redevelop the Pines Shopping <br /> Center anchored with a newly built Save-A-Lot. The current center and grocery store no longer comply <br /> with current building codes and many of the store fronts are unoccupied. In order to eliminate the <br /> blighted conditions, the developer requests the City's assistance to tear down the existing center and <br /> rebuild a new grocery store and shopping center. <br /> The TIF Statute requires the City to show notice of the date and place for the Public Hearing twice in the <br /> local newspaper. Notices were published in the Decatur Tribune on January 13, 2010 and January 20, <br /> 2010. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Minutes of the Joint Review Board Meeting held on Jnauary 14, <br /> 2010 are attached.
