Alexander, Director of Water Management � <br /> SUBJECT: Supplemental Water Supply Study <br /> Evaluating Potential Groundwater Sources <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing Task Order No. 15 for the Continuing <br /> Agreement for Engineering Services with Black &Veatch Corporation at no cost to the City. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> On September 29, 2008 Council authorized Black & Veatch (B&V) to evaluate potential <br /> groundwater sources to provide the City with supplemental water in times of drought or other <br /> emergencies, pending additional future Council approval if the evaluation was deemed <br /> necessary. On October 19, 2009 Council reaffirmed this authorization, and B&V was issued a �, <br /> notice to proceed on October 20, 2009. The original agreement required B&V to submit a draft �� <br /> copy of their findings within 60 days after the start of work. This 60 day deadline is requested to <br /> be extended to a no cost 90 day deadline for the following reasons: <br /> • There is significantly more documentation available for B&V to review than originally <br /> planned for. <br /> • The extension will allow B&V more time to examine feasible groundwater alternatives. <br /> • The extension will allow B&V the flexibility to plan for staff time off due to the <br /> upcoming Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's holidays. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> None foreseen. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: <br /> Keith Alexander, Director of Water Management, 217-424-2863 or kalexander@decaturil.gov <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> There are none for the City.
