McCrady, City Manager � Greg Crowe, Assistant City Manage� Richelle Irons, Assistant Director, EUD � Dave Griffiths, Neighborhood Inspections Administrator� SUBJECT: Unsafe Structures SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: An item on the agenda for the meeting of November 16, 2009, is a resolution authorizing action regarding unsafe structures. This is the second step,after the posting of a structure as unfit,which initiates the demolition process. City staff recommends approval. 135 S. 19th-NSI#200801206. This case was started on 4-14-09 and unable to be resolved with a regular housing case. Kenneth E.Wells Jr. is named as the owner in the case. During the housing case the structure was gutted by fire and is now considered beyond repair. 1234 N. Church-NSI#200902229. This case was started on 9-3-09. Bill and Carol Haenny are named as '! the owners in the case. The house was found to be standing open and abandoned and in a severe state ', of deterioration all around. The interior is full of garbage and debris and there has been extensive , vandalism. Items of value have been stripped from the house. The garage has been damaged by an arson fire. 1135 W. Cottage Hill-NSI #200902360. This case was started on 9-17-09. The estate of Betty J. Hughes- I Washington is named as the owner in the case. The house was found to be standing open and abandoned. The water service was terminated in July of 2008 and the gas meter has been locked off. Ceilings are collapsing from roof leaks and the house has been partially stripped of items of value. Neighbors complain of unknown persons entering the house at varying hours. 620 W. Decatur-NSI #200902034. This case was started on 8-12-09. Busey Bank is named as the owner in the case. The house was found to be standing open and abandoned. The water service was terminated in May of 2008 and the gas and electric meters have been locked off. The doors have been kicked in and the house stripped and vandalized. A portion of the foundation is collapsing.
