- Community Facilities <br /> - Telecommunication & Utility Infrastructure <br /> - Housing <br /> - Economic Development <br /> -Natural Resources <br /> - Public Participation <br /> The process used to develop the Final Draft Plan exceeded the minimum requirements by <br /> including the following areas of study. , <br /> - Corridor and area studies, both urban and rural, �I <br /> -Urban and rural design, '' <br /> - Capital Improvement Programs and recommendations, <br /> - Recreation and Preservation strategies, <br /> - Continuity of roads and infrastructure, <br /> - Historic Preservation, <br /> - Enhancement of our(GIS) capabilities, products, and tools. <br /> The Final Draft addresses the principal issues discovered by the consultant and staff and <br /> repeatedly confirmed throughout the extensive public outreach and participation phase. The <br /> issues were grouped together into an overall Vision with the following five Guiding Themes. <br /> -Balanced Land Development and Conservation <br /> - Quality of Life Communities <br /> - An Accessible and Connected County <br /> - A Diversified Economy <br /> -A Sense of Pride in Place <br /> Adoption of the Macon County — Decatur Comprehensive Plan will have numerous public <br /> benefits. A summary of the benefits include: <br />, - Foster consistent land use decisions, <br /> - Provide for more accurate capital improvement planning, <br /> - Enhance the marketability of Decatur/Macon County as a place to work, live and play, <br /> -Enhance, preserve and conserve our natural and human resources, <br /> -Focus our efforts in addressing the public's priorities, <br /> -Allow for a logical, defensible, coordinated decision making process, <br /> -Provide a framework for preservation and redevelopment of neighborhoods, <br /> -Engage grant and enhancement funding opportunities, <br /> - Provide a guide for the efficient use of limited public dollars. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this planning project. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The attached documents show extensive outreach and <br /> significant public participation opporiunities throughout the planning period. <br /> STAFF REFERENCES: If Council members have questions they may contact Greg Crowe at <br /> 217/242-2727 or crowe ,decaturil.�. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: None. <br />
