R2009-148 APPROVING AND ADOPTING MACON COUNTY - DECATUR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

A RESOLUTION BY THE DECATUR - MACON COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN STEERING COMMITTEE REGARDING ITS RECOMMENDATION TO ADOPT THE FINAL DRAFT PLAN, DATED MAY 22, 2009, BY THE CITY OF DECATUR AND COUNTY OF MACON, ILLINOIS WHEREAS, the Decatur-Macon County , Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee was appointed jointly by the Mayor and Board Chairman respectively to oversee the creation of a countywide comprehensive plan that would guide the development of the City and County over the next 20 years and to recommend a draft plan for adoption by the Decatur City Council and Macon County Board, and WHEREAS, in July 2008, said Steering Committee recommended that a Draft Plan be forwarded to the Decatur Plan Commission and Macon County Regional Planning Commission for their review and to commence the public review period and WHEREAS, on July 29, 2008, the Draft Plan was formally presented to a joint meeting of said Planning Commissions and since August 2008, public comments have been solicited, public presentations have been made to numerous community leaders, groups and other entities and the public comment period has now ended, and WHEREAS, said Steering Committee has reviewed the comments and resultant changes made to the July 28, 2008 Draft Plan, and fully concurs with those changes reflected in the Final Draft Plan, dated May 22, 2009, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, it is hereby recommended by the Decatur-Macon County Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee that the attached Final Draft Plan, dated May 22, 2009, be adopted in its entirety by the Macon County Board and Decatur City Council.
