� � <br /> The restoration work will involve replacing curb and gutter as needed along with drainage <br /> structures. Many of the project streets have been overlaid so many times, the curb and gutter has <br /> been totally filled in. This project will restare the drainage capacity of the street's curb and <br /> gutter as much as practical while matching existing driveways. This year's program includes <br /> approximately 4.24 centerline miles of streets in the City. A listing of streets in this year's <br /> project is attached. <br /> The project scope and specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division and approved by <br /> the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for the use of Motor Fuel Tax funds. The <br /> project was advertised on June 3, and June 10, and bids were opened on June 17, 2009. The <br /> results of the letting are as follows (bid tabulation attached): <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over(-Under) <br /> Engineer's Estimate $2,247,674.95 ------- <br /> Dunn Company $2,242,439.35 (0.23%) <br /> Illinois Valley Paving Co. $2,506,237.61 11.50% <br /> Dunn Company is in compliance with the City's Responsible Bidder's Ordinance and has <br />' complied with the Prevailing Wage Act for many years. Dunn provided the low bid and has <br /> successfully completed many jobs of this type for the City. Following the approval of the Mayor <br /> and City Council, the bid tabulation will be forwarded to the Illinois Department of <br /> Transportation for final approval in accordance with the rules governing the disbursement of <br /> Motor Fuel Tax funds. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution and bid award. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Director of Public Works and Matt Newell, City <br /> Engineer. Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any <br /> questions of the Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact <br /> Funding for this project is allocated in the Motor Fuel Tax Fund. The recommended low bid <br /> amount is $2,242,439.35. The City's current Motor fuel Tax allocation for this project is set at <br /> $2,200,000. The low bid is $42,439.35 above the amount allocated. City staffwill look for <br /> ways to reduce the project cost to remain within the original allocation, however an additional <br /> MFT allocation may be required in the fall if the full bid amount is required to complete the <br /> project. <br /> The project should begin in July and be completed by October 30, 2009. <br /> Page � 2 <br />
