demonstrated i4s ability to provide high quality sewer inspection services to the City of Decatur at a
reasonable cost. Tele Scan employs 7-8 employees in the Decatur community. About 5,000 hours of
labor will be required to accomplish the work provided in this contract.
Tele Scan's equipment inventory includes 2 televising trucks mounted with "state of the art" sewer
inspection cameras that provide detailed, full color images in difficult environments. Other
equipment includes a sewer cleaning truck, point repair truck, and a manhole lining truck, totaling
more than$600,000 in equipment. Tele Scan is a regional business, performing pipeline inspection
and rehabilitation services within a 150 mile radius of Decatur.
To date in Fiscal Year 2009, Tele Scan completed the video inspection of over 126,000 feet of sewer,
performed 435 manhole inspections, 14 smoke tests, 19 special studies, and has responded to over
150 on-call inspection requests. It has proven very beneficial to have a local firm engaged in
televising work for the City.
The agreement includes an option for the City to renew the agreement for up to two additional years
with no increase to the various inspection and service fees.
Staffplans to organize a display of sewer televising and maintenance equipment before the City
Council meeting on May 18, during Public Works Week.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution.
INPUT FROM OTAER SOURCES: None.
STAFF REFERENCE: Richard G.
