Attachment A
Work Order No. l (4/20/09)
City of Decatur
Phase I Engineering for Bridge Replacement
South Shore Drive over Sand Creek Arm of Lake Decatur
Existing SN 058-6003
A. Scope of Work
The following is a summary of the proposed engineering services to be provided:
1.0 Phase I
1.1 Collect and review existing data to include existing bridge and roadway
plans, plans for existing sewer pipe and supports, bridge master report, bridge
inspection report,utility/water main information, and required clearances for
recreational marine traffic.
1.2 Perform field survey for roadway, bridge and hydraulic cross sections, as
required. This work will include preparation of the survey outline, as well as
processing and plotting the survey data.
1.3 Prepare Bridge Condition Report(BCR). Based on the Sufficiency Rating of
10.9, it is anticipated that an abbreviated BCR will be required since a rating
of 50 or less qualifies for total replacement using federal funds.
1.4 Conduct coordination meetings with the City of Decatur and the Decatur Park
District to determine the required section for traffic and pedestrians and/or
bicycles.
1.5 Conduct coordination meetings with the Decatur Sanitary District regarding
the Interceptor Sewer supported on the wingwalls of the existing bridge.
Investigate available options for the sewer to include relocation or re-
supporting at the existing location.
1.6 Develop roadway alignment options based on the proposed cross section.
1.7 Pre are a brid e t e stud to investi ate o tions for the re lacement
P g Yl Y g P p
structure type. Options to be considered include, a Precast Three-Sided
Structure Steel Wide-Flan e Beams with Com osite Deck Concrete I-
, g P
Beams with Composite Deck, and Pre-Engineered Steel Truss. Consider
resulting raise in profile and impacts for each structure type as well as
differences in overall costs for each.
1.8 Determine impacts to sewer supported on the wingwalls of the existing
structure. Consider options with the sewer left in place and with the sewer
relocated. Determine if additional fill will be required in Lake Decatur to
support the proposed roadway section.
1
