before more significant weight restrictions are placed on it. The bridge replacement is <br /> proposed to be built using 80% funding provided through the American Recovery and <br /> Reinvestment Act ("stimulus funds") which has allocated over$2.9 million to be spent on <br /> transportation projects in the Decatur urbanized area. <br /> The preliminary study performed by Chastain included a public meeting which was held on <br /> September 23, 2008. Chastain's recommendations are that the bridge be built half at a time to <br /> allow continued area access. Two-way traffic would be maintained using traffic signals. The <br /> City is also working with the Decatur Park District to place a bike trail under the new bridge. <br /> The proposed agreement with Chastain is for the preparation of the final design for the <br /> replacement of the MacArthur Road Bridge over Steven's Creek. The final design work <br /> includes the preparation of the project report, plans, specifications, bid documents, and the <br /> review of steel fabrication shop drawings during the project. <br /> The expenditure for these services is not to exceed $98,971. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Homer L.
