' EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT <br /> � This Employment Agreement is entered into on this 2"d d y of May, 2008, by and <br /> between the City of Decatur, an Illinois municipal corporation (her inafter referred to as the <br /> "City"), and John Smith (hereinafter referred to as the "Employee"), resident of the County of <br /> Macon, State of Illinois. <br /> WITNESSETH: <br /> WHEREAS, the City desires to appoint Employee as its ac ing City Manager for the <br /> period of time from the effective date of the resignation of Steve Garman, the former City <br /> Manager, until such time as a new City Manager is hired and qualified to assume the <br /> responsibilities of the position; <br /> WHEREAS, Employee desires to serve the City as its acting ity Manager for the time <br /> period set forth above; and, � <br /> WHEREAS, the parties hereto wish to memorialize the relatipnship for the time period <br /> set forth above. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covena ts and promises contained <br /> herein, and Ten Dollars ($10.00) in hand paid, and other good and aluable consideration, the <br /> receipt and sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, the parties hereto do hereby agree as <br /> follows: <br /> 1. PERIOD OF AGREEMENT. This Agreement shall becom effective for all purposes <br /> as of May 3, 2008, the lawfully authorized City Council of the City a roves said Agreement by <br /> proper resolution, and shall continue thereafter for an indefinite term, ntil such time as the City <br /> hires a City Manager to replace the prior City Manager, and said indi idual is lawfully qualified <br /> 1 <br />
