ARTICLE 2 <br /> PLACE OF RESIDEIVCE <br /> Section 1. Persons appointed to positions in the classified olice service shall reside <br /> within forty (40) miles of the corporate limits of the City of Decatur. pon original appointment, <br /> an appointee may reside outside said limits but shall be required as�'� a condition of continued <br /> employment to comply with said residency requirement no later than ninety (90) days after the <br /> completion of said appointee's probationary period. All non-prob�tionary officers residing <br /> outside said residency requirement on April 30, 1997 shall not be req�uired to comply with said <br /> residency requirement. � <br /> Section 2. In the event that an employee cannot report for duty at the assigned time, <br /> for any reason related to the location of the employee's place of reside ce if such is not in Macon <br /> County, the employee may call an on-duty command officer to reque t an emergency holiday if <br /> the employee has accumulated holiday time sufficient to co�•er the du y day or time of delay in <br /> reporting to work. The request will be granted, if at the time of the re uest, the affected shift or <br /> unit has staffing sufficient to provide police service at the level re uired by the anticipated <br /> workload for that time period. <br /> If, in the opinion of the command officer on duty at the time of the request, the <br /> anticipated workload is such that adequate police service cannot be rovided with the reduced <br /> statting caused by the employee's inability to report for dutv, or if the Department must provide <br /> hireback staffing to meet workload requirements, the employee who ails to report to duty will <br /> not receive pay for any tiine away from duty while the workload conditions remain such that the <br /> employee's duty status is required. <br /> If the holiday request is denied by the on-duty command o�'ficer, the request will be <br /> forwarded to the Chief of Police for final pay status determination '� <br /> ARTICLE 3 <br /> UNION SECURITY <br /> Section 1. Upon written authorization by an employee led with the Director of <br /> Finance thereof, the City shall deduct from the wages or salary of suc employee such sum as is <br /> certified by the Treasurer of the Union as initiation fee, assessment, and monthly union dues, <br /> which sum so deducted shall be delivered to the Union Treasurer on or before the 15th day of the <br /> month next succeeding the month in which such deductions are made. If.any employee does not <br /> have a check coming to him or such check is not large enough to s tisfy said deductions, no <br /> deduction shall be made from the wages or salary of such employee for'that month. <br /> Section 2 (a). Upon the express condition stated in sub-parag aph (b) hereof, and only <br /> upon such condition, the City shall deduct from the wa�es or salary of ach employee covered by <br /> 2 <br />
