The recruitment of past retailers for other sites including Target and Olive Garden at Mound
Center went through a similar process. When approached by the Gity on numerous occasions
both retailers did not indicate any interest in locating in this market p until the point they were
ready to get a deal done immediately. If the subject property is an exed and a small parcel is
developed commercially, the surrounding site is no longer viable if a big box retailer decided that
they want to open a store in Decatur. We have discussed this site with Home Depot.
The annexation reguest would add considerable value to the owner,'s parcel yet return little to
the City and destroy a potential large scale retail development.
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The annexation plat has been reviewed and approved by
Finance, Legal, Fire, Engineering and Infrastructure, and Municipal Services.
STAFF REFERENCES: If Council members have questions they ay contact Joselyn Stewart
at 424-2782,jastewartcidecaturnet.org.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Additional annual revenue of approximately $670.23
would become available from the combined total real estate ($337.0) motor fuel ($139.44) and
state income taxes ($193J0) from the property.
