CR WE, DIRECTOR OF <br /> ECONOMIC AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT for <br /> amendments to the City of Deca Zoning Ordinance (Ord. <br /> #3512, as amended) SECTI XXVIII.J.S (Exterior <br /> Lighting-Applicability) <br /> Ms. Stickle presented the recommendation of staff: <br /> Staff has received requests for the installation of one single bulb li t fixtures. Currently, any <br /> installation of lighting for a commercial or industrial site requires de ailed informatnn and site <br /> plans to be submitted for review and approval. <br /> Staff has prepared amendments for inclusion in Section XXVIII.J 5. to applicability in the <br /> Exterior Lighting subsection. <br /> SECTION XXVIII.J.S. is proposed to be amended by adding the follo in� <br /> "c. The addition of one (single bulb) light fixture per propert may be allowed to <br /> be installed in a commercial or industrial district without t e submission of a <br /> lighting plan with the following conditions: <br /> i. The light fixture shall be placed on an existing ole that is located i <br /> within public right-of-way or within an easement; <br />' ii. Written approval of all owners of adjacent prope or property that in <br />' the absence of right-of-way or an alley would be adjac t property; <br /> iii. Only one (single bulb) light fixture shall be adde from the effective <br /> date of this amendment; and <br /> iv. A catalog cut of the fixture must be provided. A1 new lighting shall <br /> meet the requirements enumerated herein. <br /> For purposes of this subsection, property is defined as the c ntiguous lot(s) that <br /> are used for the purposes of conducting business to include al buildings, parking, <br /> etc." <br /> After reviewing one fixture exterior lighting requests, staff b lieves that the proposed <br /> amendments will accommodate some of the requests while still ke 'ng the night-sky light and <br /> spillover to a minimum. <br /> The amendment would allow for installation of a light fixture on a c mmercial or industrial site <br /> without the requirements of the detailed lighting plans subject to previously mentioned <br /> conditions. <br /> Staff recommends a motion to forward Calendar Number 07-25 t the City Council with a <br /> recommendation that the amendments to Section XXVIII.J.S relative to applicability of exterior <br /> lighting be recommended for approval as presented. <br /> There were no questions asked. <br /> There were no objectors present. <br /> It was moved and seconded (Peck/Nordholm)to forward Cal. No. 07- 5 to the City Council with <br /> recommendation for approval as presented. Motion carried unanimo ly. <br />
