Stewart, Transportation Planner�� <br /> SUBJECT: Vacate Alleyway between 200 Blocks of West Pythian d West Damon Avenues <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval o petition to vacate the public <br /> alleyway as indicated on the plat. The City Plan Commission voted 6- to recommend approval of <br /> this petition at the Apri15, 2007 meeting; the minutes of the meeting arQ attached. <br /> , <br /> BACKGROUND: The petitioner is requesting vacating public ri t-of-way in the Alleyway <br /> between 200 Blocks of West Pythian and West Damon Avenues. he vacation will enable the <br /> petitioner to further develop their campus with a cancer center. <br /> The petitioner currently owns all of the property adjacent to the right- f-way with the exception of <br /> Lot Nine (9), Block Four (4) of Pythian Home Addition in which th petitioner has a contract to <br /> purchase the property. <br /> Letters were sent to AmerenIP, Insight Communications and AT&T n tifying the utility companies <br /> of the vacation request. An easement will be reserved for utility access. <br /> An appraisal was submitted by the petitioner with an estimated m ket value of $3,000.00. A <br /> second appraisal was obtained by the City with an estimated mark t value of $2,400.00. The <br /> petitioner will pay the City of Decatur $3,000.00 for the vacated alley ri ht-of-way. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There were no known objectors at the P an Commission Meeting. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Any additional questions may be forwarded t Joselyn A.
