Mr. Oakes asked if the petition were approved today, how man� more parking spaces <br /> would be needed. ' <br /> Ms. Stickle stated that no more parking spaces would be needed. <br /> Mr. Oakes stated that the basis of the recommendation of denial is from comments that <br /> are from seven years ago and things change due to growth and pro ress. <br /> Mr. Crowe stated that the city encourages the development and rowth of businesses in <br /> Decatur. Mr. Crowe stated that the concern with the parking is that based on past <br /> practices with the PUD there have been changes that have had a r pple effect which have <br /> created other changes. Mr. Crowe stated that the proposed add'tion is larger than the <br /> current building and at a later date the petitioner might find o t that he needs more <br /> parking. Mr. Crowe stated that there is no room on the site to add dditional parking. <br /> Mr. Nordholm stated that he is in favor of the petition based on th�re is no good reason to <br /> deny the petition. Mr. Nordholm stated that the petitioner has done a wonderful job with <br /> landscaping and has approval by the neighborhood for the addition. <br /> Mr. Crowe stated that he agreed with Mr. Nordholm but stated that city staff received <br /> quite a few calls by neighbors that were in opposition of the petiti n. <br /> Mr. Mickler asked what kind of comments city staff received. <br /> Mr. Crowe stated that the individual he talked to stated that his decision was based on <br /> past practices with the petitioner and that traffic had picked up in t e area and he was also <br /> concerned with parking. <br /> Mr. Terry Smith asked whether there was sufficient parking und r the zoning ordinance <br /> at the site. <br /> Mr. Crowe responded yes. <br /> Mr. Crowe stated that PUD's are going to have amendments and are going to have <br /> changes but the concern with this situation is based on past practices. Mr. Crowe stated <br /> that in past practices at the site, certain amendments to the PUD h ve not been addressed. <br /> Mr. Crowe stated that when a PUD is formed the intent is to take care of site issues such <br /> as landscaping, planning, traffic, building size and building densit all at once. <br /> Mr. Terry Smith asked if there should be a provision in the re ommendation to allow <br /> everything to be brought up to standards that was initially set. <br /> Mr. Crowe stated that for an amended PUD or original PUD, th Planning Department, <br /> Engineering Department and Fire Department look at those issues on the site plan. <br />
