• r <br /> • � <br /> MINUTES OF THE MEETING <br /> OF THE <br /> TRAFFIC AND PARKING COMMISSION <br /> Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 4:00 P.M. <br /> Engineering Canference Room <br /> Third Floor, Civic Center <br /> The October 10, 2006, meeting of the Traffic and Parking Commissio was called to order at <br /> 4:07 p.m. in the Engineering Conference Room, Third Floor, Decatur Civic Center, by Acting <br /> Chairman, April Veteto, who determined a quorum present. <br /> Members Present: Citizens: April Veteto, Bob Luther and Ka en Zaiz <br /> Staff: Deputy Police Chief Jim Chervi ko, Fire Marshall Lyle <br /> Meador, Joselyn Stewart and M tt Newell <br /> Other Staff Present: Dan Mendenall, Traffic Parking Supervisor <br /> Janet Poland, Recorder f Minutes <br /> Other Citizens °resent: See attached list <br /> The following items were discussed concurrently: <br /> Item # 1 Request for stop signs to replace the exist ng yield signs at the <br /> intersection of Lawrence Street and 215t Street; <br /> Item #2 Request for stop signs at the intersection of Hend ix Street and 21st Street; <br /> and, <br /> Item #4 Request for stop signs to replace existing yield si ns at the intersection of <br /> Decatur Street and 20`� Street <br /> Matt Newell opened the meeting by stating a study had been done a d accident reports were ' <br /> requested for the intersection of Lawrence and 21 St Streets. There w re no recorded accidents j <br /> over the past three years. Existing conditions do not indicate a chan e is needed to the current <br /> traffic control at the intersection. i <br /> April Veteto stated since these streets surround a park and if there is xcessive traffic that she I' <br /> could see the need for better traffic control. Newell said this would b something for the � <br /> Commission to decide. With the information that has been gathered taff does not see the need I <br /> for any change. Staff relies on the residents who see the trafFc on a ay to day basis to report <br /> problems to City staff. <br /> Jim Chervinko reported that a mobile speed sign was moved into the rea and the speeds have <br /> been reported as coming in lower than the speed limit other than one which was more than <br /> likely a motorcycle. Speeds being reported do not indicate any chan e needed in traffic control <br /> in addition to no accidents being reported. <br />
