Karen Zaiz said there are many accidents that go unreported due to not having insurance or not wanting insurance rates to go up. Zaiz s ated this park is different than other parks in the City as it has a street on all sides of it in this r sidential area. . Naomi Sinclair resides on the corner of Lawrence Street and 21 St Str et. She is raising two grandchildren. There are several children in the neighborhood that ross the street to use the , park. In the summer when the basketball courts are being used ther is non-stop traffic on all three streets around the park. These vehicles fly down the roads an do not slow down for the , existing yield signs. I Mike Tarczan has lived at 441 South 20�' Street for the last six y ars. There have been two 'i accidents around the park in the last two years. I, Mr. and Mrs. Enloe have lived at the corner of Decatur Street and 2 �' Street for 45 years. They , see vehicles speeding through the area at all times of the day and n ght. 'I Sinctair stated there is a handicapped child in the.area that uses a heelchair to get back and I forth from Eisenhower High School. Neighbors try to watch out for im since vehicles do not slow down for pedestrians. � R Christine Qualls lives at 442 South 20�' Street. As she was leavi g to come here today there was almost an accident involving three vehicles. She has two da ghters; one of them wears two hearing aids. She does not allow her daughter to cross the stre t alone due to the traffic_ Item # 1 It was moved and seconded (Zaiz / Luther) to replace the existing ield signs at the intersection of Lawrence Street and 21 St Street with stop signs. Motion carried nanimously. Item #2 It was moved and seconded (Zaiz / Meador) to install a stop sign t the intersection of Hendrix Street and 215t Street. Motion carried unanimously. Item #4 It was moved and seconded (Zaiz /Veteto) to replace the existing ield signs at the intersection of Decatur Street and 20`r' Street with stop signs. Motion carried u animously.
