Both hydrochloric acid and potassium hydroxide will be created from potassium chloride <br /> (salt); the products are created by converting the salt with the use of electricity and steam. <br /> The potassium hydroxide will be sold as a 45 percent solution. <br /> 5. The petitioner states that the plant generates little waste products. <br /> 6. It appears that rezoning the property to M-2 Heavy Industrial District will not have a negative <br /> impact on the surrounding area. <br /> STAFF RECOMMENDATION - <br /> 7. Staff recommends approval of the request for rezoning. <br /> PLAN COMMISSION ACTION <br /> 8. Section XXIX requires the Plan Commission to hold a public hearing on the rezoning request <br /> and then forward its report and recommendation to the city council for final approval.
