Marley, P.E., Director o ngineerin & Inftast -ruci`ure <br /> g <br /> SUBJECT: Amendment to Annual Sewer Televising Program, City Project 08-19 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing <br /> $160,000 in additional funds for an agreement with Tele Sca.n, Inc., for pipeline inspection <br /> services as part ofthe Annual Sewer Inspection Program, City Project 08-19. The resolution <br /> authorizes $160,000 in addition to the$400,000 authorized on Apri17, 2008, for a total <br /> authorized expenditure of$560,000 for pipeline televising, manhole inspections, and other <br /> inspection and investigative work necessary in the maintenance of the City's sanitary sewer <br /> system <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Prior Council Action <br /> • November 19, 2007 -The City Council approved Resolution No. R2007-223 authorizing a <br /> $50,543 agreement with Eastern Illinois University(EIU)to obtain global positioning <br /> coordinates on all manhole and inlet structures in the City as part of preparing an accurate <br /> Geographical Information System(GIS) map of the City's sanitary and storm sewer <br /> infrastructure. <br /> • Apri17, 2008 - The City Council approved Resolution No. R2008-50 authorizing a$400,000 <br /> agreement with Tele Scan, Inc. (TSI) for pipeline televising, manhole inspections, and other <br /> inspection and investigative work necessary in the maintenance of the City's sanitary sewer <br /> system. <br /> • Apri121, 2008- The City Council approved Resolution No. R2008-54 authorizing a$96,000 <br /> agreement with EIU to draw a map of the City's sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water <br /> distribution systems based on the global positioning coordinates obtained on valves, <br /> hydrants, manholes, and inlets in the systems. <br /> • Apri121, 2008 - The City Council approved Resolution No. 2008-55 authorizing a$135,000 <br /> agreement with Bainbridge, Gee, Milanksi&Associates (BGM) to perform technical review <br /> and quality control of the GIS sewer map being prepared by EIU for the City of Decatur. <br />
