Before CU Taxi/Illini T�i suspended operations, it had been carrying 84% of the "Operation Uplift"passengers compared to AOK TNI Taxi's 16%. Since their proposed fares are lower than CU Taxi /Illini Taxi had charged, and since AOK TNI Taxi is now the only operating taxi service in Decatur, the proposed fare increase will actually result in a lower annual cost for the Transit System. Based on the number of taxi passengers and miles for January through April, staff expects a savings of about $15,500 for the next year. It should be noted that if CU Taxi/Illini Taxi resumes business at the previous fares with the same number of rides as before, then the fare increase proposed by AOK TNI Taxi would increase Transit's costs by a small amount.
