Alexander, Director of Water Management � j <br /> SUBJECT: Lake Decatur Mining Plan ' <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Council adopt the attached Resolution authorizing a Professional Services Agreement with H. L. <br /> Chastain &Associates for a Lake Decatur Mining Plan at a cost not to exceed $70,000. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Several months ago Council informally agreed that a Mining Plan would greatly assist the City's <br /> current and future dredging efforts. This plan will: <br /> ✓ Provide a hydrographic survey of the Lake to determine the current amount of sediment <br /> and water storage in the Lake. This has not been done for the entire Lake since 1983. <br /> ✓ Design the most effective way to complete dredging Basin 6 to maximize water flow to <br /> ADM's water treatment plant intakes. <br /> ✓ Design the most effective way to dredge (mine) the Big and Sand Creek areas of Basin 1. <br /> ✓ Design sediment traps to be dredged in Basin 6 and B�sin l. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> None foreseen. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: <br /> Illinois State Water Survey. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: <br /> Keith D.
