* . <br /> Mass Transit Memorandum <br /> No. 111307-1 <br /> November 13, 2007 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Steve Garman, City Manager <br /> Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator � <br /> ��- <br /> SUBJECT: Purchase Order for One 12 Passenger Van <br /> SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council adopt a Resolution awarding a <br />, RECOMMENDATION: purchase order for one 12 passenger van to the lowest bidder, <br /> Miles Chevrolet, Inc. <br /> BACKGROLTND: On October 2, 2007, the Decatur Public Transit System placed <br /> an advertisement in the Herald &Review newspaper requesting <br /> ' sealed bids for furnishing the City with one 12 passenger van. <br /> Notices were also mailed to 13 new car and truck dealers in the <br /> Decatur area. The three firms that requested the full bid package ' <br /> and specifications all submitted bids by the published bidding ' <br /> deadline on November 2nd. The Mass Transit Administrator <br /> determined that all bids were acceptable with respect to the vehicle <br /> specifications, although all bids contained slight variances from the <br /> stated specifications. All other requirements of the bidding process <br /> were satisfactorily met. As shown on the attached tabulation of <br /> bids the lowest bidder was Miles Chevrolet, Inc. with a bid of <br /> $21,296.00. <br /> POTENTIAL Bidders had 5 days from the announcement of the lowest bidder to <br /> OBJECTION: file a protest. No one has objected to awarding the purchase order <br /> to Miles Chevrolet, Inc. <br /> INPUT FROM James Gillum, Maintenance Superintendent <br /> OTHER SOURCES: Decatur Public Transit System <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator <br /> BUDGET/TIME Staff has already obtained a federal grant for 80% of this purchase. <br /> IMPLICATIONS: City funds have been budgeted for the remaining 20%. <br />
