, .: ;
Background
City of Decatur has requested Burwood Group provide a proposal for services to update their existing point-
to-point wireless network. The City of Decatur requested[hat the new design provides manageability,
increased bandwidth, security, and scalability to meet future needs of[he city.
Burwood Group recommends using Cisco 1510AG LWAPP bridges to provide the City of Decatur's wireless
needs. The 1510AG provides security, manageability, and reliability to create high performance WLANS for
outdoor wireless networks. The 1510AG utilizes 5 GHz technology also known as 802.11 a. This AP provides
individualized channels, as well as its sustained speeds over long distances. The Wireless LAN Controller
(WLC) provides central management platform for all access points, and[he ability to expand in the future,
and supports redundant links should one AP fail. Also the Cisco LWAPP outdoor wireless would be the initial
steps to providing that city with a mesh network for future applications.
Mesh networking has long been established as the preferred outdoor networking solution. Along with its
decision process for the best path to the core, MESH has been dubbed the"self-healing"solution. Given the
nature of this technology, Cisco requires special certifications to sell and deploy this equipment. Burwood
Group is one of the few Cisco gold certified partners which has this Advanced Wireless specialization along
with the Wireless MESH caveat.
Objectives
We understand the objectives of this project are to:
Upgrade of the wireless network for the City of Decatur based on the city's requirements
• Secure and segment the new wireless network
Scope
We understand the scope of Burwood Group's involvement in the City of Decatur wireless project to include:
• Develop the design for implementing a wireless network for the specified buildings
• Configuration of the wireless LAN controller
• Configuration of the routers which are directly attached to the wireless network in order to implement
an appropriate routed wireless infrastructure
• Configuration of the following wireless point-to-point network devices for the City of Deca[ur
• Eight(6)Cisco 1510ag Airespace Access Points
■ One(1) Cisco WLAN Controller
• Complete and document the wired network infrastructure as it relates to the wireless point-to-point
network
• Provide as-built documentation for the wireless network
• Provide considerations on future expansion of the network
• Provide Day 2 support to the City of Decatur
b1YVY86riup, rnt, Confidential and proprietary to Burvvood Group,Inc. 2
