. <br /> t - <br /> Engineering & Infrastructure Memorandum <br /> NO. 2006-72 <br /> December 28, 2006 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council <br /> FROM: Steve Garm City Manager ,�� <br /> Matthew C. well, P.E., Acting Director of Engineering & Infrastructu,�� <br /> �� <br /> SUBJECT: 2006 Sanitary Sewer Trenchless Point Repairs, City Project 06-29 i <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for 2006 Sanitary Sewer Trenchless Point Repairs, City Project 06-29, to Bodine <br /> Environmental Services, Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$270,350.00, <br /> and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The purpose of this project is to repair structural damage at approximately 1701ocations <br /> throughout the City's sanitary sewer system with a minimum of disturbance to service. Structural <br /> damages include broken and missing pieces of pipe, heavily offset pipe joints, and voids. All of <br /> the project locations were derived from the annual televising and inspection reports. <br /> The trenchless point repair process involves the insertion of a flexible lining through a manhole <br /> to the location of the damaged section of pipe. Once the lining is in place, it is fit tightly against <br /> the walls of the host pipe and cured with an epoxy coating to strengthen the damaged area. This <br /> repair process has been successfully used over the past 10 years to repair the City's sanitary <br /> sewers. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division. The project <br /> was advertised December 5, 2006, and bids were opened on December 20, 2006. The results far <br /> the letting are as follows: <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over (-Under) <br /> Engineer's Estimate $ 313,200.00 ---- <br /> Bodine Environmental Services, Inc. $ 270,350.00 (-13.68 %) <br /> National Power Rodding Corp. $ 332,510.00 6.17 % <br /> Bodine Environmental Services, Inc. provided the low bid far the proposed work. Bodine has <br /> completed many successful sanitary sewer projects for the City. Staff recommends that the City <br /> Council approve a contract with Bodine Environmental Services, Inc. to perform the 2006 <br /> Sanitary Sewer Trenchless Point Repairs project. <br />
