Task 3: Options I <br /> Purpose <br /> The purpose of Task 3 is to determine alternative proposals for trolley service areas, routes, <br /> number of vehicles needed, days and hours of operations, fares, etc. These alternatives will also <br /> include options for fixed route and charter or leased service. The information fpr these <br /> alternatives will be used to identify and prioritize recommendations for future trolley service. <br /> Approach <br /> The Contractor will identify options that reflect the unmet needs identified above. These options <br /> will likely include, but not be limited to: <br /> • Additional services using existing trolleys; <br /> • New services using additional trolleys, which could include fixed route <br /> and non-fixed route service; <br /> • Services to new geographic locations; <br /> � • Services in different time periods; <br /> • Special event type services including community tours; and <br /> • Charter or leased services for one or both trolleys, either operated by DPTS <br /> or outside of DPTS,pending FTA regulations. <br /> The Contractor will develop a matrix that documents the pertinent information for each <br /> alternative relative to costs, benefits, staffing, projected ridership, routes, etc. In addition, maps <br /> will be prepared in a Geographic Information System that illustrate the options. <br /> The Contractor will present this information to a working group developed in conjunction with <br /> City staff. The information will be discussed and the alternatives will be prioritized. <br /> Product <br /> The product of Task 3 will be a report that documents the development of the options and the <br /> prioritization process. <br /> Decisions Needed by City <br /> The City should concur in the composition of the working group to review and evaluate the <br /> options. <br /> Task 4: Recommendations <br /> Purpose <br /> The purpose of this task is to develop a set of recommendations to guide the future utilization of <br /> trolley services in Decatur. <br /> Approach <br /> Based on the work and input received during Task 3, the Contractor will develop a set of <br /> recommendations for future trolley service. These will include initial and annual operating and <br /> Decatur Public Transit System 9 Trolley Study <br />
