Newell, P.E.,Acti ' ctor of Engineering & Infrastruct�� ��d SUBJECT: Fire Station #1 Building Improvement Project, City Project 06-12 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the contract for the Fire Station #1 Building Improvement Project, City Project 06-12, to Interiar , Specialty Construction, as the lowest responsible bidder in the amount of$48,240.00, and that the Mayar be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. � BACKGROUND: For several years Fire Station #1 has been plagued by leaks during wet.weather which have caused water damage to the interior of the building. The City retained a local firm, Architectural Expressions, to determine the source of the leaks and design the necessary repairs. The building inspection determined that storm water was entering the building through a roof door on the 3ra floor and through the window structure on the second floor. The proposed work includes replacing the second floor windows and the 3`d floor roof door along with the replacement of water damaged ceiling tiles and wall coverings on the interior of the building. The project plans and specifications were prepared by Architectural Expressions, LLP, with input from Fire Department and Engineering Division staff. The project was advertised through the Purchasing Division on September 2, 2006, and bids were opened on September 22, 2006. The results for the letting are as follows: Compared to Engineer's Est.
