• ` r
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the concrete paver surfacing alternative and
approve a contract with Otto Baum Company, Inc. to perform the West Main Street Improvement
project.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution and
bid award.
fNPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Economic and Urban Development Department
Blank, Wesselink, Cook & Associates, Inc.
STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell, Acting Director of Engineering &
Infrastructure, at 424-2747
Representatives of BWC along with Dane Bragg and Matt Newell, will be in attendance at the City
Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council on this item.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS:
Funding for this project is budgeted in the Letter of Credit Fund with $300,000 in additional funding
being provided from the Capital Projects Fund. The recommended low bid amount for brick '
pavement is $2,701,352.25.
The project should begin in September and be completed by August, 2007. The street segment
from Church to Edward should be completed by December, 2006. Some portions of the
construction work may continue over the winter months; however the remaining street work will
resume in the spring so that the roadway is not in disrepair over the winter.
Attach: 3
cc: John Smith, Assistant City Manager for Public Services
Greg Crowe, Economic Development Coordinator
Phil Wilhelm, Municipal Services Manager
Dan Mendenall, Traffic and Parking Supervisor
Bobby Davidson, Engineering Technician Supervisor
Harry Cook, BWC
Bob Dean, BWC
Otto Baum
.
