COUNCIL RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> (Implementation in some cases will be based on council desires or election outcomes) <br /> 5 VOTES <br /> Develop And Use An Evaluation System For The City Manager—The city <br /> council has been provided with two models for evaluation,one from Greg Kuhn, a <br /> nationally-recognized managerial recruiter and the other from the National League of <br /> Cities provided recently by Councilwoman Stockard. <br /> Implementation: Per the direction of Council <br /> Action Plan: <br /> ➢ The Council will decide whether to utilize either of the evaluation systems <br /> that have been presented or to develop its own. <br /> Have a Council Member Act As A Non-Speaking Observer At Key Meetings— <br /> Council members requested that they be involved in"key meetings"involving issues <br /> that may be of great interest than normal or generate considerable discussion. <br /> Implementation: Ongoing <br /> AcNon Plan: <br /> ➢ A recent meeting to discuss the future of our garbage system was attended <br /> by Councilxnan McEkoy and Councilwoman Stockard while Councilman <br /> Laegeler has been observed negotiations w�th the Public Building <br /> Commission. <br /> ➢ As meetings aze set and deemed"critical"by the council, a member or <br /> members will be assigned to attend. <br /> 4 VOTES <br /> Provide A City-Run Orientation For New Council Members <br /> Implementation: April 2007 <br /> Action Plan: <br /> ➢ In the event that there is a new council member elected during next year's <br /> election city staff will be prepared to provide this orientation in advance of <br /> the member being seated. <br />
