• k
A second option is to replace the bridge during the summer / fall of 2007 and use Highway
Bridge Replacement funds administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The potential cost savings to the City by following after the second option could be around
$400,000 since the City will pay 20% of the replacement cost with the State picking up the
balance. The decision will be assisted by the follow-up inspections performed by URS. If the
bridge's deterioration is determined to be more extensive than originally believed or if it has
the likely potential to deteriorate at a more rapid pace, it may be advisable to replace the bridge
before IDOT funds become available.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution.
