Excerpts of Decatur City Plan Commission
Cal No. 04-51 Petition of DANE C. BRAGG, Assistant City Manager,
Economic and Urban Development to amend the City of
Decatur Zoning Ordinance (Ord. #3512, as amended)
Ms. Suzan Stickle gave the following recommendation of staff:
The current City of Decatur Zoning Ordinance was adopted in May of 2002. Since the
time of adoption, staff has discovered certain necessary changes, discrepancies and
omissions as the new ordinance has been implemented.
Section XXVIII.J.16 (Off-Premise Sign Lighting). The lighting used for off-premise
signs shall not exceed "30" footcandles instead of "??". This was inadvertently left
unchanged when the Ordinance was written.
Section XXI.D.3 (Exceptions to Front Yard Setback Requirements-Porches and
Terraces). Proposed addition to the exceptions "An existing norrconforming porch or
terrace may be replaced or rebuilt to its current dimensions, provided that the replacement
structure does not project into the required front yard more than eight (8) feet;" and
numbering the paragraphs accordingly.
Staff recommends approval of the amendments as proposed.
Section XXIX.G. of the Zoning Ordinance requires Plan Commission to hold a public
hearing and make recommendations to the City Council on amendments to the Zoning
Ordinance. A recommendation of approval is suggested.
No objectors present.
It was moved and seconded (Smith/Anderson) to forward Cal. No. 0451 to the City
Council with the recommendation for approval as submitted by petitioner. Motion
carried unanimously.
