�- � � ORDINANCE NO. 2004- 84 ORDINANCE DESIGNATING��WALK OF STARS" WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the arts contnbute greatly to the quality of life in a community, and that the City of Decatur is fortunate to have many gifted and talented artists whose efforts have lifted, inspired and entertained all of its citizens; and, WHEREAS, the Council finds that the core area of downtown Decatur, where the Decatur Area Arts Council is located, is developing as an Arts and Entertainment area; and, WHEREAS, the Council further finds that the arts should be nurtured and encouraged, and that it is important and in the public interest that support for the arts, whether financial or otherwise, should be acknowledged and honored; and, WHEREAS, the Council finds that it is proper and appropriate to honor such supporters of the arts in a public manner and in a public place. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That the City Council hereby designates the sidewalk on the west side of the 200 block of North Water Street as a"VValk of Stars", for the purpose of honoring those persons who have supported the arts in the City of Decatur. Section 2. That those persons selected to be honored for their support of the arts may have their names engraved on a star and placed on the above-designated "Walk of Stars", in accordance with the procedures set forth herein. Section 3. That there is hereby established the "Walk of Stars" Arts Committee (the "Committee"), which body shall consist of five (5) members appointed by the Mayor and with the consent of the Council.
