Morthtand, Corporation Counsel ��� �' <br /> RE: Walk of Stars <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: City staff recommends approval of the attached <br /> ordinance designating a portion of a sidewalk in front of the Decatur Area Arts Council for a <br /> "Vllalk of Stars". <br /> BACKGROUND: The Decatur Area Arts Council has requested this Council <br /> designate a small portion of the sidewalk in front of their building at 125 N. Water Street as a <br /> "Walk of Stars�to honor those persons who have supported the arts. A committee would be <br /> formed to deteRnine the criteria to be used in making these selections. The committee <br /> members would be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council. The proposed <br /> ordinance will be for a period of two (2)years only. It further requires that before any work is <br /> done on the sidewalk, an agreement between the Decatur Area Arts Council and the City be <br /> reached which will govem any construction, installation, maintenance and liability issues. <br /> OBJECTIONS: None of which staff is aware. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Wendy L.
