 r
EXCERPTS OF THE
' MINUTES OF THE MEETING
OF THE
TRAFFIC AND PARKING COMMISSION
Tuesday, July 13, 2004, 4:00 P.M.
Item # 1 Request for stop signs at the intersection of Packard Street and
University Avenue
Phil Bauer opened the meeting by stating that after driving through the intersection of
Packard Street and University Avenue his opinion was the visibility at the intersection
was not a factor in the occurrence of accidents. Matt Newell agreed the visibility was not
a significant problem and believes the accidents result from citizens driving too fast or
not paying attention while driving through the intersection. Residents in the area have
told him that near misses happen frequently at the intersection and are requesting stop
signs or yield signs be installed. With the accident history present at the intersection the
need for traffic control is hard to dispute.
Staff recommends stop signs be installed on University Avenue creating a two way stop
at the intersection.
It was moved and seconded (Wennecker / Walker) to follow staff recommendation.
Motion carried unanimously.
