COUNCII.COMMiJNICATION FORM <br /> Executive Memorandum#OS-22$ <br /> DATE: November 21, 2005 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Paul Osbdrne and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Steve , City Manager <br /> Dane Br Assistant City Manager� <br /> Vickie Bu 'ngham, Assistant Director, EUD���� <br /> Uave ' ths, Neighborhood Inspections Administrator Q�' <br /> SUBJECT: Change Order to Demolition Contract <br /> SUMMARY R.ECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval. <br /> BACKGROUND: During the course of the demolition of the buildings Iocated at 710-26 E. <br /> Eldorado, the contractor discovered additional asbestos beyond what had been located during the <br /> initial asbestos in building survey. This asbestos was in a location that was uncovered by the <br /> contractor during the actual demalition. EPA requires the reporting and abatement of asbestos <br /> that is found during the demolition prajects. The contractar has abated the asbestos and is <br /> requesting an additional $6,000 for this work. Supporting paperwork is provided. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Any questions may be forwarded to Dave Griffiths at 424-2794, or by <br /> ernail at dagriffiths@decaturnet.org. <br /> BUDGET/TIlYIE <br /> IMPLICATIONS: This will result in an additional $6,000 cost to the overall project that was <br /> initially$32,300. <br />
