Travis Stanley, Civil Engineer I <br /> SUBJECT: Concord/Phoenix Park Neighborhood Sidewalk Replacement Project, <br /> City Project 05-22 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution which <br /> authorizes the following: <br /> 1. Authorizes awarding the contract for the Concord / Phoenix Park Neighborhood <br /> Sidewalk Replacement Project, officially titled and designated in the Engineering <br /> Division as Near North Sidewalk Replacement Project, City Project OS-22, to WAS CON <br /> Co., as the lowest,responsible bidder in the amount of$69,482.00, and that the Mayor be <br /> authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> 2. Authorizes the City Manager and the Director of Engineering and Infrastructure to <br /> increase the contract amount by approximately $18,000 not to exceed $87,500 for the <br /> construction or repair of additional sidewalks in the Concord / Phoenix Park <br /> Neighborhood area as needed. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The purpose of this project is to improve the accessibility of the City's sidewalk system by <br /> replacing deteriorated sidewalks and sidewalk ramps in the Concord / Phoenix Park <br /> Neighborhood area of the City. This work also includes the installation of new sidewalk ramps <br /> in currently inaccessible areas. The proposed work will be paid for with Community <br /> Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project <br /> was advertised October 5, and 12, 2005, and bids were opened on October 21, 2005.
