Travis Stanley, Civil Engineer I �] <br /> SUBJECT: Country 1Vlanor Street Reconstruction, City Project 01-07 <br /> SLTI�INIARY RECO�IENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the contract <br /> for Country Manor Street Reconstrucrion, City Project 01-07, to Beniach Construction Co., Inc., as the <br /> lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of $389,974.76 to reconstruct the street with a concrete <br /> pavement, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> A second resolution is included herewith that authorizes a chan;e order in the amount of$45,000.00 to <br /> _ the contract to remove and replace 100% of the curb and gutter on the reconstructed streets. Staff <br /> ! recommends the approval of this chan;e order. <br /> BACKGROIIND: <br /> This project is desi�ed to improve the concrete streets in the Country Manor Estates subdivision on <br /> the City's east side as shown on the enclosed drawing. This work will inclt�de the removal and <br /> replacement of the existin? concrete pavement with a new concrete pavement over a stabilized sub- <br /> grade. The project includes the removal and replacement of various sections of deteriorated curb and <br /> gutter sections. <br /> Staffmet with many residents of the neighborhood during a public open house on June 7, 2005. All of <br /> the residents were very receptive to street construction proposed for the neighborhood and its traffic <br /> disruption. Many residents at the open house preferred to have the street replaced with concrete rather <br /> than with asphalt. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project was <br /> advertised June 17, 2005, and bids were opened on July 8, 200�.
