Travis Stanley, Civil Engineer I � <br /> SUBJECT: Sidewalk Replacement Project, City Project OS-21 �, <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: �, <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution which I <br /> authorizes the following: <br /> 1. Authorizes awarding the contract for the Sidewalk Replacement Project, <br /> City Project OS-21, to WAS CON Co., as the lowest, responsible bidder in <br /> the amount of$83,605.20, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the <br /> contract, and the City Clerk to attest, and; <br /> 2. Authorizes the City Manager and the Director of Engineering and <br /> Infrastructure to increase the contract amount by approximately$26,400 not <br /> to exceed $110,000.00 to for the construction or repair of additional <br /> sidewalks in the City as needed. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The purpose of this project is to improve the City's sidewalk system by installing new <br /> sidewalks or replacing deteriorated sidewalks in various areas of the City. The work also <br /> includes the installation or repair of sidewalk ramps where needed. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The <br /> project was advertised May 27, 2005, and bids were opened on June 10, 2005. The results <br /> for the letting are as follows: <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Estimate <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over(-Under) <br /> Engineer's Estimate $102,294.15 --- <br /> WAS CON. Co. $83,605.20 (- 18.27%) <br /> Karnic Construction $93,754.20 (- 8.35%) <br /> Entler Excavating Co. $108,114.50 5.69% <br />
