Nood'en,Assistant City Engineer �/ SUBJECT: Fire Station Driveway Rehabilitation, City Project OS-09 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: ' It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the contract for Fire Station Driveway Rehabilitation, City Project OS-09, to Christy—Foltz, Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$91,832.00, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. BACKGROUND: Numerous fire station driveways have begun to exhibit general deterioration and have known safety or access issues. Problems include the following: deterioration and degradation of the � concrete and bituminous pavements, excessive slope causing fire trucks to scrape, turning and ' access problems, and ponding water. The project consists of removing existing driveway pavements, widening, adjustment of slope, ' and replacement with heavy duty concrete. Additional items include removal and replacement of ' curb, sidewalk, and storm sewer pipe and structures. The project was advertised May 13, 2005, ' and bids were opened on May 27, 2005. The results for the letting are as follows: ' Compared to Engineer's Est.
