Nood'en,Assistant City Engineer �/ <br /> SUBJECT: Fire Station Driveway Rehabilitation, City Project OS-09 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br />' It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for Fire Station Driveway Rehabilitation, City Project OS-09, to Christy—Foltz, Inc., as <br /> the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$91,832.00, and that the Mayor be authorized to <br /> execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Numerous fire station driveways have begun to exhibit general deterioration and have known <br /> safety or access issues. Problems include the following: deterioration and degradation of the � <br /> concrete and bituminous pavements, excessive slope causing fire trucks to scrape, turning and ' <br /> access problems, and ponding water. <br /> The project consists of removing existing driveway pavements, widening, adjustment of slope, ' <br /> and replacement with heavy duty concrete. Additional items include removal and replacement of ' <br /> curb, sidewalk, and storm sewer pipe and structures. The project was advertised May 13, 2005, ' <br /> and bids were opened on May 27, 2005.
