Step#5—IN-SERVICE TRAINING
Loud and clear, your memo mentioned stress and morale issues specifically. We at
PSTC are proud to say that we have Richard Behr on staff. He is the Author of"Under
the Headset—Surviving Dispatch Stress". He can start the in-service training for your
existing staff. We often see some immediate improvement to work product and morale
once they cope or resofve work and personal stressors. Often when PSAP members are
allowed to do some appropriate venting and morale building, we can start the path to
recovery. This is the one in-service training topic that we would suggest be kept in-
house. We could do it in 2 days allowing for scheduling of all staff members.
The next riori for trainin would resent either our Crisis Communications or In-
P 9
fiY P
Progress training. The good rws is that we would be able to prvvide these classes at a
discamted rate. Qur ptan wauld be to offer the Gasses to yaur entire region and hope
thaneighboring agencies would attend. Their tuition costs would lower your financial
responsibilities.
