A notice was placed in the June 7th. issue of a national
publication(APTA's Passenger Transport) and notices were
mailed to Transit's cunent risk manager, Gallagher Bassett, and to
22 firms listed in a national directory of transit system services. By the
July 14th deadline for receiving proposals, one firm had sent a"no
response"letter and two firms had submitted proposals: Gallagher
Bassett and Frontier Adjusters. Staff reviewed the proposals,
obtained additional information from bothrms, compared pricing,
and checked references. Staff determined that both proposals, with
the additional information staff obtained, meet the minimum
specifications published in the request for proposals, and that they
meet all of the other requirements of the bidding process. Staff
finds that Frontier Adjusters is capable and competent to perform
the work, and would best meet the needs of the Transit System.
POTENTIAL No known objection to awarding the contract to Frontier Adjusters.
OBJECTION:
INPUT FROM Richard Foiles, General Manager DPTS
OTHER SOURCES: Barry Leonard, Risk Manager
STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator
BUDGET/TIME Awarding this contract should reduce the cost of handling the
IMPLICATIONS: Transit System's liability claims.
