When accountability is lost
this could mean less revenue.
The second low bid of Badger Meter, Inc. meets the City of Decatur specifications.
According to the Water Services Manager, the City's system currently contains 95% Badger
Meters. As with anything, standardization helps reduce repair costs since less parts would be
needed for inventory. In addition, the staff in Water Services are trained in the installation and
repair of Badger Meter water meters. If a different meter were introduced into the system
efficiency could be lost.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Water Services wrote the bid specifications and
recommend approval of second low bidder.
- STAFF REFERENCE: Keith Alexander, Water Management Director 424-2863, Steve
Yeager, Water Services Manager 875-5705, Deborah M.
